The Dodge County Dairy Youth Recognition Auction, held August 17 at the Dodge County Fair, celebrated the achievements of sixteen exhibitors that participated in the junior dairy show at the 2014 Dodge County Fair, as well as the accomplishments of all Dodge County dairy youth throughout the year.

Dodge County Junior State Fair Dairy exhibitors were recognized for their team work and successful state fair. Proceeds from the Dodge County Dairy Youth Recognition Auction support the costs of exhibiting at the Wisconsin State Fair junior dairy show


Five scholarships were also awarded to students who will be attending two or four year degree programs this fall. Jessica Manke, Justin Nehls, Janelle Remington, Andrew Sell and Karoline Twardokus were recognized, and each prepared themed baskets to sell, with the proceeds funding future scholarships.


Danielle Warmka, 17, of Fox Lake, WI, was the high seller in the record-setting 2014 Dodge County Dairy Youth Recognition Auction. Warmka's buyers, VZ Construction of Waupun, received a custom-made wind chime in recognition of their support. The annual Dodge County Dairy Youth Recognition Auction supports dairy youth education and programming


In addition to the auction participants and scholarship baskets, eleven extra lots were auctioned off to raise funds for the Dodge County dairy judging and dairy bowl teams, Wisconsin Junior State Fair exhibits and many other hands-on educational opportunities.
Altogether, more than $42,000 was raised to support the Dodge County dairy program, with an average of $918.75 returned to each auction participant, making it the first year that totals have exceeded $40,000.

Winning bidders walked home with their choice of custom-made wind chimes or weathervanes, sponsored by the Dodge County Dairy Youth Recognition Auction Committee.

The 17th Annual Dodge County Dairy Youth Recognition Auction will take place on August 23, 2015. Anyone interested in supporting dairy youth in Dodge County is encouraged to participate as a bidder at the auction.
